Cleaning & protection.

Scaling and polishing, fluoride treatments and sealants — the maintenance visits that keep small issues from turning into root canals.

What it involves

Maintenance,
not just a scrub.

Scaling and polishing removes the plaque and tartar buildup that brushing at home can't reach, especially along the gumline — the most common starting point for gum disease.

Fluoride treatment strengthens enamel that's showing early signs of wear or sensitivity. Sealants are a thin protective coating applied to the deep grooves of back teeth — most useful for children and teenagers whose molars are newly erupted, but sometimes recommended for adults too.

None of these are sold as a package by default — what you actually need is decided after a look at your teeth and gums, not before.

What to expect at your visit

Four steps, every time.

01

We listen

Sensitive teeth, bleeding gums, or simply "it's been a while" — we start with what you've noticed.

02

We see clearly

A look at gum health and buildup decides what's actually needed this visit.

03

We plan together

Cleaning, fluoride or sealants — whichever applies — is explained before it's done, not after.

04

We care for the long term

You leave with a realistic home-care routine, not a list you won't keep up with.

Questions

Before you book.

Every six months is a reasonable default, more often if you have gum disease, wear braces or aligners, or build up tartar quickly.

No — scaling removes tartar sitting on top of the enamel. It doesn't wear down the tooth itself. Any sensitivity afterwards is usually from the gums being newly exposed to air, and it settles within a few days.

Most commonly children and teenagers with newly erupted back teeth, since deep grooves there are hard to keep clean with brushing alone. Some adults benefit too — it depends on the shape of your teeth.

A little bleeding right after scaling is common, especially if the gums were inflamed beforehand — it should settle within a day or two as the gums heal.
